Debit Card Policies
Debit cards are accepted in Australia.

Note: Full rental charges must be available in debit card funds at the time of rental. A hold will be placed on your account for this amount.

Upon returning the vehicle, Avis will process a release of the unused portion of the hold subject to your Bank's procedures.
Please be advised that the hold may take up to 2 weeks to be released by your bank.

If you fail to return the vehicle as agreed, Avis will obtain additional authorizations from your account to cover the rental charges.

Avis is not responsible for any returned checks or over-drafts based on this policy.

Note: Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are not acceptable methods of credit identification to pick up a car at any location. One of the above mentioned cards must be presented. Prepaid Debit/Gift cards are accepted at time of return only.

Driver's License Requirements
At time of pick up, driver must present a valid driving license from the renter's country of residence. This license must represent legally authorized, uninterrupted driving privileges in the country of residence for at least one year immediately prior to the rental pick-up date. All forms of documentation must be issued to the same person, in the same name, and presented together at the time of rental. An International Driving Permit (IDP) is also required unless renter's national license is printed in English. An International Driving Permit (IDP) serves only as a translation of a driver's existing license, and by itself is not acceptable for vehicle rental.

Age Requirements
At this location the minimum age is 21. A Young Driver surcharge of AUD 28.50 (including GST) per day per driver applies for drivers ages 21-24, regardless of length of rental.

Estimated total includes base rate, surcharges and GST. Items such as coupon discounts and fuel are NOT included in the estimated total. Optional coverages, GPS, child safety seats and one-way fees are subject to surcharges and GST and they are not reflected in the estimated total if you are not using www.avis.com.au.

Travel Into Other Countries
Vehicles are not permitted to leave Australia
Tasmania - Vehicles are not permitted to travel between mainland Australia and Tasmania.
Cars may not be taken on the ferry between the mainland and Tasmania.
North QLD - Avis vehicles are not allowed:
Beyond Chillagoe or Georgetown in a westerly direction
Passenger vehicle or truck: beyond Cape Tribulation or Laura in a northerly direction.
Four Wheel Drive: beyond Cooktown or Laura in a northerly direction.
Northern Territory or Western Australia - Vehicles cannot be taken into or out of the Northern Territory or Western Australia
